Believed to NCO's stationed at "Pancake" in Leverstock Green in thes autumn of 1914. Can anyone name the individuals and/or confirm that they were with teh Queen's Westminster Rifles?

Empire Day 1935. Can anyone identify any of the faces in the crowd?

Below are a small selection of photographs I have been sent over the years as Leverstock Green’s local historian.  In many cases we don’t know all or even any of the faces in the photographs, and either don’t know or cannot be sure of the event.  If you can solve any of these mysteries, please let me know.  lghistorian@btinternet.com

  • The officers and Senior NCOs are from a horse unit as they have riding boots and riding crops. So not an infantry unit and not the Westminster Rifles. I can make out the cap badge from this picture but these are not Artillery men.

  • I think the lady 3rd from left 2nd row from the front is Mrs Newland (lived at 9 Curtis Road). The lady in the 3rd row, 3rd left looks like Mrs Philips (10 Curtis Road). Do you have a larger copy of the photo that you could send me, as my older sister and I might be able to name others. Robert Stockwell (used to live at 12 Curtis Road).

  • My wife knows a few of the people, the tall gent at the back  with glasses is her paternnal granfather, Walter Lowe.In front of him to his left, the smiling lady in the white hat is her maternal grandmother Alice Lawrence.

In the middle row,the man at the far right is Arthur Weston, with his wife Violet (nee Steers) next to him.

The ladynext to her might be Vera Hill and next but two to her ,the lady with the glasses is Mrs Daniels.

In the front row at the far right is Mayilda Lowe (nee Steers) known as ‘Tilly’, Voilet Weston’s sister and my wife’s paternal grandmother.

Next but one to her is Mabel Newland, her next door neighbour in Curtis Rd.
